Local business readiness

Whether an assistant asked for a business like yours in Siem Reap or Phnom Penh could actually name you.

Written for businesses serving customers in Cambodia.

Why "near me" is a different problem

A search for "web designer" is answered from reputation. A search for "web designer in Siem Reap" is answered from data: an address, a phone number, opening hours, coordinates, and corroboration that the business exists somewhere other than its own website.

A site can read beautifully to a person and be unusable for that second question. This check looks specifically at what a machine can extract, because that is what decides whether you appear in the answer at all.

The parts that are specific to Cambodia

Coordinates matter more here than in most markets. Postal addressing is loose, the same street name recurs across districts, and an address alone is frequently not enough to find a place. Publishing latitude and longitude removes the ambiguity entirely.

So do messaging channels. Most enquiries in Cambodia arrive through Telegram, WhatsApp or Messenger rather than a contact form, and a site offering only a form loses business in a way it would not elsewhere. Khmer on the page is the third: English-only is a deliberate and sometimes correct choice, but it should be a choice.

What this does not cover

Your Google Business Profile, which is the other half of local search and lives outside your website entirely. Reviews, photos, opening hours and the map pin all sit there, and none of it can be read from your site.

If this check comes back strong and you still cannot be found locally, the profile is where to look next.
