How it works

Fill in your details on the left and the invoice builds itself on the right. There is no preview button and no template to pick first: what you see beside the form is the document, and it is the same markup the PDF is made from, so the two can never drift apart.

When it looks right, press Download PDF. That opens your browser’s own print dialogue, where the first destination is Save as PDF. The file it makes has selectable text and real page breaks, because it is printed rather than drawn as a picture.

Your invoices stay on your computer

Every draft is saved in this browser as you type, and nowhere else. An invoice carries your client’s name, their address and what you charged them — that is their commercial business and yours, and a free tool has no reason to hold it.

There is no account to make, nothing for us to lose, and nothing to ask us to delete. The flip side is worth knowing: clearing your browser data clears the list, and an invoice drafted on your laptop will not appear on your phone. Download the PDF and you have the permanent copy.

One exception, and it is opt-out: when you download an invoice, the business name you invoice under appears in the live feed on our home page — the same feed that shows the sites people have just checked. Only that name. Never your client, your items, your totals or your notes. There is a switch beside the name if you would rather it did not.

What goes on a good invoice

A number, so you and your client can both refer to it later. The date it was issued and the date it is due — “due on receipt” is a hope, a date is a term. Your full details including how to reach you, and theirs including the name they trade under, because accounts departments pay the entity on the invoice.

Then the work itself, one line each, described the way the client would describe it rather than the way you booked it. Tax stated separately at the rate that applies to you. And the bank details, in the notes, where somebody trying to pay you will look for them.

Getting paid faster

Send it the day the work finishes, not at the end of the month. An invoice that arrives while the job is still fresh gets approved by someone who remembers agreeing to it.

Put the amount due and the due date where they can be seen without reading, name the person who ordered the work rather than only the company, and give one clear way to pay. Most late payments are not refusals — they are invoices that reached the wrong inbox, or were missing the one detail the payer needed.
